Kilkenny Entrepreneur Terry Clune Receives Outstanding Achievement Award at National Fintech Awards
Kilkenny businessman Terry Clune has been awarded the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award at the inaugural National Fintech Awards 2025, held at the Mansion House in Dublin on Thursday evening.
Mr Clune, Founder and CEO of CluneTech, was recognised for his exceptional leadership and innovation in the fintech sector. The award follows a landmark year for the entrepreneur, including the €575 million acquisition of CluneTech company Immedis by UKG—one of Ireland’s largest tech deals in 2023.
CluneTech, headquartered in Kilkenny and founded in 1996, has grown into a global fintech group with offices in 21 countries and a footprint across four continents. The group includes TransferMate, which last year achieved a $1 billion valuation, as well as Fintua (formerly Taxback International) and Sprintax, all of which were nominated at the awards.
Speaking after receiving the award, Mr Clune said:
“It is a real honour to receive this award. This recognition is a reflection of the incredible people I have had the privilege to work with and our shared commitment to innovation and growth. At CluneTech, we have always focused on creating technology that delivers real impact.”
The National Fintech Awards were established to celebrate the achievements of Ireland’s dynamic fintech industry, recognising those who have demonstrated outstanding growth, innovation, and leadership.
Mr Clune, originally known for founding TaxBack.com, continues to lead CluneTech from its Kilkenny base, driving global success while maintaining strong local roots.
