New Affordable Housing for Abbey Hill, Thomastown
Kilkenny County Council is delighted to announce the launch of Abbey Hill, a new development of high-quality, energy-efficient homes in Thomastown. Nestled on a gentle hill with scenic views of the surrounding countryside, Abbey Hill offers a mix of two- and three-bedroom homes purpose-built for first-time Buyers and fresh starters.
Developed by Ormonde Construction Ltd with support from the Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage, the scheme includes sixteen 3-bedroom and six 2-bedroom homes. All units are A2-rated and High Performance Index (HPI) Certified, ensuring excellent energy efficiency and modern living standards.
These homes are being made available under the Affordable Dwelling Purchase Arrangement, part of the Affordable Housing Act 2021. Eligible buyers will enter into a shared equity agreement with Kilkenny County Council, which will retain a percentage equity share in the property. This equity can be bought out over time, offering flexibility and long-term affordability.
The application portal for Abbey Hill will open on Wednesday, 15th October 2025 at 12 noon and will close on Wednesday, 5th November 2025 at 12 noon.
